Captain Cole Barrett is one of Commander Jeremiah Mercer’s most trusted officers and a senior leader within both the Iron Covenant and the North Carolina Liberation Front (NCLF). A former United States Marine, Barrett served alongside Mercer during the Afghanistan War and remained loyal to him long after Mercer abandoned the military.

Unlike many of Mercer’s followers, Barrett knows the full truth behind the man known as The Architect. He was there when Mercer disobeyed orders and executed Taliban warlord Hassan Rahmani in 2004. He also knows the truth about the Falcone Manor Incident, where Mercer ordered the deployment of Sarin Gas in an attempt to eliminate Captain Eve Torres and her team.

The attack failed, but it came at a terrible cost. During the operation, Lieutenant Sam Hawke sacrificed his life to reduce the blast radius and save his fellow soldiers. His actions prevented an even greater tragedy, but left behind a legacy that would forever impact his son, Captain Lucas Torres.

Despite knowing the truth behind Mercer’s actions, Barrett chose to remain at his side. As the Iron Covenant grew into the North Carolina Liberation Front, Barrett became one of its most capable field commanders, helping Mercer wage war against the United States Military Response Authority and the Steelborne Wolves.

Today, Captain Cole Barrett remains one of the most dangerous officers within the NCLF and one of Mercer’s most loyal supporters.
