During the North Carolina Liberation Front insurgency, Valderas provided sanctuary to Commander Jeremiah Mercer, Major Patrick Hanlon, Captain Cole Barrett, Colonel Malcolm Rourke, and a handful of their surviving militia loyalists. He also played a key role in holding Astra Lockheart captive while the NCLF regrouped and expanded its influence.
